On December 7, 2020, the Gun Permit Unit will implement several changes due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

 

All walk-up services have been SUSPENDED at this time.

Current Permit Holders who wish to update their Address or Report a Lost/Stolen Permit can do so online. Just follow the instructions below.

 

The email address will be available once the online services go live. 

Change of Address:

Permit holders who were issued a permit in Philadelphia County and have relocated should notify the Gun Permit Unit of their new address.  There is no requirement within the law that states you must obtain a replacement permit with the updated information.  A Pennsylvania License to Carry Concealed Permit is valid throughout the entire state but can only be issued by the county you reside in.  So if you move outside of Philadelphia County we would not be able to update your permit to reflect another County.

If you have relocated and only want to notify the Gun Permit of the change download the below form, fill out the information, and submit the form along with a copy of your Identification and change of address card if you have not updated your drivers on non-driver's ID  to (EMAIL available soon).  Be sure to include you name, date of birth, and the words "Change of Address" in the Subject Line. 

If you still reside in Philadelphia County and want to have your address updated on your License to Carry you will have to complete the Change of Address form can call (215) 685-3661 or (215) 685-3662 to schedule an appointment.

On your appointment date you will need to bring the following items:

  • The Completed Change of Address form

  • Your updated Drivers or Non-Drivers' ID or Old ID with the State Issued Address Update Card

  • A recently purchased Money Order in the amount of $25.00 made out to the City of Philadelphia                                         ( *FYI - Postal  Money Orders do not expire)

Lost or Stolen Report:

Permit holders who were issued a permit in Philadelphia County and have either lost their Permit or had their Permit Stolen can now submit their request for a replacement online.

YOU ARE NOT PERMITTED TO CARRY A FIREARM WITHOUT A LICENSE TO CARRY

The First step is to file a Police Report and obtain an Incident Report Number.

 

The Second step you will have to download the below form, fill out the information, and submit the form along with a copy of your drivers or non-drivers' ID  to Police.GPU@phila.gov.  Be sure to to include your name, date of dirth, and the words "Lost/Stolen Report" in the Subject Line. 

You will be notified via email that your request has been received.  At that time the Gun Permit will conduct an investigation and you will be notified via U.S. Postal mail of the outcome of the investigation.  If your request for replacement is approved you will have to call (215) 685-3661 or (215) 685-3662 to schedule an appointment to receive your replacement Permit.

On your appointment date you will need to bring the following items:

  • Your notice of approval for replacement

  • Your Drivers or Non-Drivers' ID

  • A recently purchased Money Order in the amount of $25.00 made out to the City of Philadelphia                                         ( *FYI - Postal  Money Orders do not expire)
