Pennsylvania License to Carry a Firearm
The Pennsylvania State Police announced on December 14, 2020, that Governor Tom Wolf has granted an additional extension to license to carry firearms permits. Permits expiring on March 19, 2020 or later are now valid through March 31, 2021.
IMPORTANT: NEW PROCEDURES
On Monday, January 25, 2021, the Philadelphia Police Department will begin using the Permitium Program to provide the most efficient way of processing gun permit applications.
Emailed applications are no longer accepted.

Applicants should print out or write down confirmation information from Permitium.
Your Permitium order number, username, and password will be needed to access the Permitium Order Tracker.
Applicants will receive email and text (optional) correspondence through the Permitium program.
Applicants who are approved for a License to Carry a Firearm with the Permitium program will receive an email with instructions on making their appointment to pick up their LTC card.
Do not call for status. If you have received a receipt, the application will begin to be processed. You can always check status through Permitium’s Order Tracker.
Appointments to pick up your License to Carry a Firearm instructions:
bring your valid PA driver’s license or PA non-drivers ID
Make sure your driver’s license is not expired
any expired/expiring LTC permit
Information for all Applicants submitted prior to the implications of the Permitium Program you will be notified via the email address that you provided at the time if submission and will follow the instructions provided in the email.
NOTICE: The receipt of an approval notice DOES NOT give you the right to
carry a concealed weapon. Only upon issuance of the License
to Carry will the authority of carrying a concealed weapon be given.
On December 07, 2020, the Unit will no longer provide walk-up service for permit pick-ups you will have to call (215) 685-3661 or (215) 685-3662 to schedule an appointment for your license to carry.
The hours for Permit pick-ups will be as follows:
Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM
On your appointment date, you will need to provide the following items.
A Copy of your APPROVAL email
You Driver's License or Official PA Photo Identification Card
A recently purchased Money Order in the amount of $20.00 made payable to the City of Philadelphia. ( *FYI - Postal Money Orders do not expire)
Renewals - bring your old Pennsylvania License to Carry
Due to the limited access to the building, you will be waiting outside until it is your turn to be seen.
Be sure to dress for the weather
Please be sure to arrive with the required documents and fees.
This will be the schedule until further notice.
The Unit will be closed on all Federal, State, & Local Holidays
A FACE COVERING MUST BE WORN AT ALL TIMES unless directed to be removed by Unit Personnel.
YOU MUST BE ON TIME FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT.
IF YOU ARE LATE YOU WILL NOT BE SEEN AND WILL HAVE TO OBTAIN ANOTHER APPOINTMENT DATE.
IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ALL THE ITEMS REQUIRED TO APPLY, YOU WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO LEAVE AND RE-ENTER, YOU WILL HAVE TO OBTAIN ANOTHER APPOINTMENT DATE.
ONLY THE APPLICANT WILL BE PERMITTED TO ENTER THE BUILDING (IF AN INTERPRETER IS NEEDED THEY CAN ENTER WITH THE APPLICANT). NO ONE UNDER THE AGE OF 21 WILL BE ALLOWED TO ENTER THE BUILDING.
